It’s no
longer a surprise why the cutest sheep breed in the world award goes to the
Valais Blacknose Sheep continuously. Black furry faces among the sporting
fluffy white wool are adorable!
The thick
fluffy coat of this cute swiss sheep species has developed to thrive in the
harsh winters as they are native to the mountainous states of Valais in
Switzerland.
Their
origin of the valerian blacknose sheep runs back to the 15th century, yet they
weren’t considered as a breed until 1962.
It’s not
only their mysterious black faces and fluffy fur the reason for them to earn
the reputation. These sheep are quite social and friendly with humans than the
other sheep and that too has helped them to gain their fame.
The main
intention to raise these sheep was to get a big amount of wool. But, it didn’t
take much time for them to become all time favourites due to the cute look and
behaviour.
These
miniature Valais Blacknose sheep are usually adopted as beloved pets by the
families of farmers in Switzerland.
Adoption
of them is not exclusive for Swiss Alps, but also for the people all over the
world.
These
fluffy creatures have become an extreme fashion thus has a high global demand.
It’s definitely their appearance that filters them from the ordinary.
Black
face, feet, ears, knees and spiral horns with white thick curly wool is a
brilliant blend.
What do
you think of the majestic horns of these mini blacknose sheep look like when
they graze?
Unfortunately,
the blacknose sheep population started reducing at the beginning of the 20th
century but soon recovered after about 40 years, especially in Switzerland.
Though
recovered, the present estimated worldwide population of these sheep is around
19,000.
Anyone
who is interested in them can find them easily by shows and contests set up by
these sheep lovers and farmers regularly.
At
present, there aren’t any pure-bred sheep of this breed found in the US since
they are highly sought after breed.
