Anil
Prabhakar, an Indonesian photographer was successfully able to capture a
wonderful act of kindness and care of a wild orangutan.
This wild
orangutan offered his hand to a person who was stuck in mud.

This
particular photographer always had the belief that his work would elicit social
and emotional change.
"I
think that a photo can speak for itself," said Prabhakar. "I always
try to capture an emotion I can connect to."
Prabhakar
joined the Borneo
Orangutan Survival Foundation in 2018 and got to know a lot about the
program during a visit.

The
organization rescues the innocent orangutans from poachers and habitat loss and
helps them to get back to the wild safely. The organization would treat the
orangutans to heal their injuries and help them come out of the trauma.
Afterwards, they release the animal to a temporary forest before releasing it
to the wild.
The
amazing incident was witnessed while on a tour of this protected land of the
foundation. He saw a crew member entering the orangutans' habitat along a small
river.

Prabhakar was confused and asked the
reason to do so and got to know that it was because the person spotted a snake
over there.
"The
guy started cleaning the bushes all along the river since the poisonous snakes
are dangerous to orangutans. The fellow was moving in slow motion due to the
mud in the river."
To their
surprise, the orangutan who saw the difficulty came to the river banks to watch
what he was doing. The orangutan didn't just watch and wait, but also lent a
helping hand for the man who was struggling to get his leg out of mud. What a
lovely gesture it is!

The
orangutan was lending the hand for about 3 minutes but left the place as the
man ignored help.
“For me,
this was completely new, I never expected to see anything like that. In my
mind, this orangutan was trying to help him. It’s human nature — if someone is
in trouble, you go there and lend a hand," said Prabhakar.

However,
later Prabhakar asked the man the reason to ignore the orangutan and the man
said that it's better to not engage with the wild animals as he was there only
as a lifeguard.
