Our world
is full of stones. Our Earth itself is an enormous rock.
In a
world full of stones and rocks, we found Akie Nakata, a Japanese stone artist
who has an amazing skill to convert stones into small adorable animals that can
fit in your palm. Akie has 10 years of experience in doing this artwork. Stone
art has been her passion since childhood. Both her desires of collecting stones
and drawing animals have been fulfilled by Akie’s this work.
Akie’s
process is more intimate because she doesn’t use all the stones that she finds.
She says that she feels the stone once she finds it. “I feel that the stone has
found me too. As per myself, stones too have feelings. Once I feel OK to go
ahead, I start painting on them. The stone that I select is not arbitrary, it’s
a live object with which I have established a connection with.”
Akie
always wants to paint the life inside the stone. She feels complete when she
sees the eyes of the stone alive. For her, completion means giving life to the
stone and not the amount of detail in it. Scroll down and enjoy Akie’s amazing
stone art gallery.
