Mario Cea, a popular Spanish wildlife
photographer is well-known for his amazing bird photography. He captures very
unique unexpected pictures of the feathered creatures by using slow shutter
speeds and artificial light.
One of
his amazing photos that contained a kingfisher diving into a pond won the
People’s Choice Award at the Wildlife
Photographer of the Year competition held in 2016. It was also shortlisted
under the Bird
Photographer of the Year Awards.
Mario Cea
can be introduced as a professional photographer with more than 25 years of
experience in the field of wildlife photography. His experience is the main
reason behind his magic in photography. He’s such a dedicated person that the
following picture named The blue trail
is the result of hard work of about 6 months and 2,000 shots.

Cea
commented on this photo, “I've only used photographic techniques in this image
and have never used Photoshop. Continuous light of a lantern and a slow shutter
speed of 1/15s are the two main techniques. A sudden flash was given to freeze
its flight too. The continuous light of a lantern is given from the beginning
of the exposure until the end with flashes fired at the second curtain by the
end of it. 'Why doesn't the wake appear in the reflection?' This is one of the
frequently asked questions by those who see this image. What I have to say is
that the wake is only visible in dark backgrounds."
Cea's intention
through photography is to make people appreciate and respect wildlife while
realizing the tough job of wildlife photographers who capture striking images
of birds.
