Kintsugi
is a Japanese teaching which says that broken objects are not things to hide
but things to display with pride. This art is also known as kintsugi or
kintsukuroi. 'Kin' means gold while 'Tsugi' means repair. Finding beauty in
trash is a very good concept that one should admire the most. The artist, Ememem is a person who
practices this the best in potholes on the streets of Lyon, France. He
decorates the broken street objects using his mosaic work.
An artist
rarely selects a pothole as a canvas. But, Ememem who uses them the
whole time definitely makes a person's day bright with his art when he walks up
and down the street. Ememem's vivid color combination makes the work pop out,
giving a great effect for the cracked roads. His objective is to patch up the
broken pavement in an identical manner to give it a unique beauty.

"I’m
a contemporary artist and the son of a bitumen. I often appear to be a
sidewalks’ poet and a modern minstrel that tells popular stories. Becoming a
street artist was not at all a plan of mine," said the artist.

“I always
try writing poems that everybody could read. I also maintain a memory notebook
of my works in this city. It would be a great help to understand what happened
those days. For example, my notes include;
'Here
cobblestones have been picked up and thrown, there a truck from the vegetable
market tore off a piece of asphalt…'
"I
note down these in order to publicize the memories. However I will continue
this research to experience all the emotional as well as poetic forces that
have the potential to enrich my work", he also added.

As we
mentioned before, his works are identical thus they have never gone unnoticed.
Following are some awesome additions of mosaic glass pieces by him on the
