Some
animals teach us how to be compassionate and selfless. A best example for such
an animal is the horse 'Champ'.
Champ is
from the Tonto National Forest in Arizona. The incident that showed compassion
and selflessness of Champ occurred at this location. Fortunately, Becky
Standrige, a park service volunteer, was able to capture the scene.

“One day,
Champ and his family were grazing along the river banks of the Salt River. Then
came another group of horses with two mischievous colts with them."

“Both the
horse groups were interested in each other."

“Therefore,
Champ's group started crossing the river with the intention to greet the other
group. Unfortunately, the currents of the river forced a young filly under the
water all of a sudden."

“She came
up to the surface in a panic as soon as she was pulled down!"

“But,
Champ who was selfless and confident soon swam over her to grab her by the side
of her neck to save her, but failed."

“The
filly was being swept downstream. But Champ was not ready to give up at
all."

“Champ
once again tried saving her."

"Fortunately,
this time he was able to grab the filly by its neck."

“He was
holding the filly gently until he was sure about her safety."

“The
rescued happy horse soon ran to her mother."

“The
heroic Champ went near other horses to greet each other with mutual
respect."

"Then,
all members of Champ's group continued their way as usual."
